Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has become the first Canadian clearing member of LCH CDSClear. This move highlights the global expansion of LCH CDSClear, a credit default swap (CDS) clearing platform operated by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG).
By joining LCH CDSClear, RBC, which is a market maker in both European and US CDS indices, gains access to:
* The broadest range of credit products eligible for clearing.
* Margin and operational efficiencies across its CDS portfolio.
* A growing pool of CDS liquidity.
* Enhanced risk management capabilities.
LCH CDSClear has seen significant growth, recording record clearing volumes for US$ and EUR Indices in Q1 2025. It offers clearing services for a wide range of credit derivatives, including European, US, Asian, Emerging Market, and Australian indices and their single names.
This membership allows RBC to provide its clients with greater choice in CDS clearing and benefit from the robust risk management and capital efficiencies offered by the platform.Video courtesy of Thinking Crypto
