Indian stock exchanges, specifically the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), continue to restrict overseas users from accessing their websites. This measure was implemented due to security concerns following an escalation of India-Pakistan tensions, and increased apprehension of cyberattacks.
While discussions are underway, no formal decision has been made to lift these curbs or restore full access, and there is no clear timeline for resolution. The exchanges are reportedly evaluating the situation closely to ensure the protection of India’s market infrastructure.
However, the restrictions do not affect the ability of foreign investors to trade in Indian markets. For overseas users who require access to the websites, the exchanges are open to considering individual requests, and their IP addresses may be whitelisted upon review. This ensures that genuine foreign investors and stakeholders can still access necessary information without compromising security.
