CME Group, the world’s leading derivatives marketplace, in partnership with CF Benchmarks, a leading provider of cryptocurrency benchmark indices, is significantly expanding its suite of cryptocurrency reference rates and real-time indices.
The key highlights of this expansion include:
    * Four New Cryptocurrencies: CME and CF Benchmarks are launching new reference rates and real-time indices for Arbitrum (ARB), Ondo (ONDO), NEAR (NEAR), and Sui (SUI). These additions broaden their coverage of the crypto market.
    * Expanded Market Coverage: With these new additions, the CME CF Reference Rates and Real-Time Indices will cover over 96% of the investable cryptocurrency market capitalization.
    * Reliable and Transparent Data: As with their existing benchmarks, these new indices will utilize pricing data from at least two of their current constituent exchanges, which include major platforms like Bitstamp, Bullish, Coinbase, Crypto.com, Gemini, and itBit. This approach aims to provide robust and trusted data to the growing crypto ecosystem.
    * Reference Rates: Each new reference rate will provide the U.S. dollar price of the digital asset, published once a day at 4 p.m. London time.
    * Real-Time Indices: The corresponding real-time indices will be published once per second, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, offering continuous price discovery.
    * Institutional Adoption: This expansion reflects the accelerating institutionalization of digital assets and CF Benchmarks’ commitment to supporting the next wave of regulated crypto financial products. These non-tradable benchmarks are crucial for institutional investors and other market participants seeking transparent and reliable pricing data.
    * Underpinning Regulated Products: The methodologies behind these new indices are the same robust ones used for existing benchmarks like the Bitcoin Reference Rate (BRR), which underpins over $100 billion in regulated crypto products. This includes several US spot Bitcoin ETFs and 99% of the regulated crypto derivatives market.
This move by CME Group solidifies its position as a major player in providing institutional-grade infrastructure for the cryptocurrency market, offering more tools for managing risk and expressing views on a wider range of digital assets.
