The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has signed an agreement to provide its comprehensive trading, clearing, and market surveillance technology to A5X, Brazil’s new derivatives and futures exchange. This partnership follows an announcement in January 2025 that a consortium including prominent market makers like Optiver, XTX Markets, IMC Trading, Jump Trading Group, and ABN AMRO Clearing Bank, would invest in A5X to fund its talent and technology needs for its launch.
Under the agreement, LSEG will deliver its integrated market infrastructure suite, encompassing pre-trade risk management, an ultra-low latency matching engine, market data distribution, and real-time surveillance. It will also provide an end-to-end post-trade platform covering clearing, settlement, and risk management. This collaboration aims to tailor LSEG’s systems to Brazil’s specific market and regulatory requirements.
A5X is targeting regulatory testing by Q4 2025, with operations scheduled to begin by 2026. This initiative is expected to enhance Brazil’s financial landscape by driving growth, liquidity, and innovation in its derivatives markets. The consortium’s investment, reportedly around R$200 million across Series A and B funding rounds, highlights the significant interest and backing for A5X’s entry into the Brazilian market.Video courtesy of First Bank of Nigeria
