    LCH SA, a leading global clearing house and part of the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), has officially launched its new service, LCH DigitalAssetClear, for clearing cash-settled Bitcoin index futures and options contracts. The service went live on May 13, 2025.
    Key details of LCH DigitalAssetClear:
    * Purpose: To provide a secure, segregated, and highly regulated clearing environment for digital asset derivatives, specifically cash-settled Bitcoin index futures and options.
    * Trading Venue: The contracts cleared through DigitalAssetClear are traded on GFO-X, the UK’s first FCA-regulated, centrally-cleared multilateral trading facility (MTF) dedicated to digital asset futures and options.
    * Index Used: All cleared products are based on the GFO-X/Coin Metrics Single Asset Real-Time Bitcoin Index (GFOXBR), which is an EU Benchmark Regulation compliant reference rate for the U.S. dollar price of Bitcoin.
    * Key Features:
    * Segregation of Assets: DigitalAssetClear operates with full financial and operational risk segregation, including a separate default fund, waterfall, IT chain, and flows. This provides stability and security by preventing contagion risk to other LCH SA clearing services in case of a clearing member default.
    * Enhanced Risk Management: It leverages LCH SA’s robust and proven risk management frameworks, including tailored historical VAR/Expected Shortfall models and counterparty risk management at the CCP level.
    * Regulatory Compliance: The service has received the necessary regulatory approvals from French national competent authorities (ACPR, Banque de France, AMF) and European supervisory authorities (EMIR College, ESMA).
    * First Clearing Members: ABN AMRO Clearing Bank, Nomura International, and Standard Chartered Bank are the initial clearing members offering services on LCH DigitalAssetClear.
    * Market Impact: This launch signifies a major step towards institutional adoption of digital asset derivatives by offering a regulated and centrally-cleared environment, addressing the demand for enhanced risk mitigation and greater choice for institutional investors.
    The development of DigitalAssetClear was a collaborative effort between LCH SA, GFO-X, and market participants, aiming to provide a secure and efficient infrastructure for the rapidly growing digital asset market.
