Information Resources Manager

Research Services Management:
• Manage research services for Hong Kong and Tokyo offices:
o Identify and trial new research services and conduct comparative analysis against existing services
o Negotiate the best pricing and terms for licensing agreements/contracts
o Oversee legal process – acting as the middle person between internal counsel and the vendors’ counsel, ensuring that the final agreement is in keeping with our legal policies, while minimizing restrictions to the end-users
o Provide continuous analysis and maintenance of current collection consisting of 45 research services and 50 periodicals, unique to the Hong Kong and Tokyo offices
o Provide research service support to Tokyo office, remotely and by on-site visits at least once a year
o Ensure that Analysts, Traders, Portfolio Managers and Researchers are made aware of research services and are properly trained in their use
o Liaise with the New York and London offices to provide the Asian perspective on purchases and other research needs
o Work with Market Data Assistant to ensure that the information associated with each research service (users, pricing, renewal dates etc.) is updated in the global inventory system – FITS: Financial Information Tracking System
o Attend conferences to stay abreast of trends in the industry (i.e., SLA , Inside Market Data Asia, etc. ) and network with other Information Specialist in the Asia region

Research Requests
• Respond to research requests using secondary sources (commercial databases) as well as primary research techniques (i.e., sourcing experts, conducting surveys etc.)
• Train and advise three Administrative Assistants who conduct quick research requests such as retrieving filings, broker research reports and news alerts.
• Act as the Asian liaison with our expert networks (e.g., GLG: Gerson Lehrman), managing all requests and conducting due diligence research as needed
• On an ongoing basis, identify new research services to address Firm’s existing and evolving strategies

Compliance Management
• Act as the final control for all Hong Kong office consultants (externally-sourced and through expert networks) ensuring that the necessary due diligence is in place and is compliant with The Worldwide Compliance Procedures (includes requirements of the Securities and Futures Commission and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act requirements)
• Prepare consultant agreements, working with legal counsel as required, conduct due diligence, and maintain the relevant files.
• Work with Global Compliance Team as the liaison for research-related compliance issues; entails maintaining process documentation and templates, communicating with the Global Research Team to ensure awareness and understanding of the relevant policies (e.g. training sessions and email updates).
Information Delivery
• Work with Information Resources Managers in the London and New York offices to add to or maintain pertinent information on the portal (global intranet)
• Maintain (and develop as needed) Asian Public Records Directory on the portal
• Assist in developing new or improved methods of disseminating information, resources directory and knowledge across the firm
Requirements:
• Graduate degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent work experience
• At least five years experience working in a business library, research department
• Experience with licensing agreements and vendor contracts preferred
• Working knowledge of: Factiva/DJX, LexisNexis, Bloomberg, Capital IQ , SNL, Credit rating agencies databases, and other commercial databases
• Facility with MS Word and Excel and some experience with SharePoint
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Conversational Mandarin is very useful, but not essential
The position reports to both the Global Head of Market Data (in the New York office) and the Head of the Hong Kong office.
